Disney+ has announced the official release date for Loki, and it is scheduled to come out on June 11, 2021. It will be a part of MCU’S Phase 4 alongside the likes of WandaVision and the upcoming The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Marvel’s lineup for Phase 4 surprised many as it added a lot of content to be featured on Disney+. WandaVision, which came out in January, is currently airing and has been a hit amongst fans ever since. Its end will mark the premiere of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which is set to be released in March.
It will be followed by Loki, which will revolve around the character of the same name. Tom Hiddleston’s Loki has been a favorite amongst fans ever since his debut in 2011’s Thor. The show will pick up after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
The teaser, which sees Loki being escorted by Thor and Stark after his capture, gives an extended peek from the events of 2012’s Avengers. In a scuffle with a few HYDRA members, Loki gets his hands on the Tesseract, teleporting himself to a different timeline.
Loki, who’s finally getting his own series, will be stepping out of Thor’s shadow into becoming the main character of his own story. The series will also see his arrest by the Time Variance Authority. Owen Wilson and Gugu Mbatha Raw will be playing the organization’s members while other roles are yet to be disclosed. Further cast includes Sophia Di Martino, Sasha Lane, and Richard E. Grant, who will be making a guest appearance.
Presently, the most anticipated movie from MCU Phase 4 is Black Widow, set for release in May. If the schedule remains unchanged, Black Widow will be followed by Loki, which will then be followed by Shang-Chi, thus bridging the gap. Irrespective of its late arrival, fans can finally heave a sigh of relief, with the official release date in sight.
Marvel dropped an exclusive clip for Loki back in December 2020, and is expected to follow it up with another trailer soon.
