A Guide to Unlocking Gold Camo-Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has tons of camos for all its guns, and the iconic Gold Camo cosmetic makes a return in this game. Before acquiring any camo for any gun, you need to grind and kill enemies in different ways in order to unlock a specific camo. Especially for the Gold Camo, you’ll need to play many matches to unlock it but don’t worry, we’ll guide you on how to unlock it.  

For players who are new to the game, the camos are basically cosmetics that change your gun’s appearance but provide no competitive advantage. Each weapon has 4 Base Camos and after unlocking them, you can unlock 4 Completionist Camos. Base Camos for one weapon can be used on other weapons but Completionist Camos are exclusive to that specific weapon. 

To unlock the Gold Camo for any weapon in Modern Warfare 2, you need to unlock the 4 Base Camos for that specific weapon. For example, in order to unlock the Gold Camo for M4, you are required to get three kills in a match without dying ten times.  

The good thing is, you can kill both real players and bots in order to do the challenges but you have to get the kills in the way it’s mentioned in the challenge. After unlocking the 4 Base Camos, the challenge to unlock the Gold Camo for a specific weapon will automatically unlock, and doing so will unlock the Gold Camo for that specific weapon. 

How to fix the ‘Gold Camo not unlocking’ bug? 

Many players have reported that they’re unable to unlock the Gold Camo even after completing the challenges required to unlock it. The bug basically causes the game to not show the fifth and final challenge in order to unlock the Gold Camo.  

However, the fifth and final challenge to unlock the camo is not a secret and if you’re facing this bug, then all you need to do is get three kills without dying ten times to complete the challenge. Even if the challenge doesn’t show up, you can complete it and unlock the Gold Camo. 

There is another bug that prevents the player from selecting and equipping the Gold Camo. As of now, there’s no direct fix for this mouse bug but you can select the Gold Camo by either using the keyboard buttons or by connecting a controller and then selecting it. The reason why the bug is occurring is due to the fact that there’s an issue with the local files of Modern Warfare 2.
