With a library of TV shows and films as diverse as its name suggests, Peacock is here to stay!
The brightly colored streaming service from NBC Universal wants to be the new destination for television addicts of all ages.
Don’t be mistaken, by the massive list of existing titles. Because those of the originals available are also a-plenty, like the star-studded adaptation of the sci-fi classic Brave New World and an all-new Psych movie.
Meanwhile, there is also an ambitious collection of fan-favourite TV shows to binge (Cheers, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation). Add to those, major blockbuster movies like E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial and Back to the Future!
Wondering if you should subscribe to this latest streaming service? Let us help you out with a list of everything coming to Peacock.
The streaming service comes in a variety of tiers arranged by the sheer capacity you, the viewer, has to watch TV.
In fact, inspired by Peacock’s diligence, we too have decided to present a list of everything on Peacock in an organized and easy-to-manage format.
Over the past few months, guys at Peacock have been releasing various lists for viewers to browse.
Here’s a condensed version consisting of everything that should be available on the service on Day 1 or Month 1… and then the titles that are coming later this year or in 2021 (like The Office).
Titles available at/near launch
Originals
Brave New World
It is an adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s classic dystopian novel of the same name. Set in the year 2540, in the World State city of London, where people are born in artificial wombs and indoctrinated through “sleep-learning” to fit into their assigned predetermined caste.
Citizens regularly consume a drug called soma (part anti-depressant, part hallucinogen) to keep them docile and help them conform to strict social laws.
Promiscuity is encouraged, but pregnancy (for women) is a cause for shame. Needless to say, both art and science are viewed with suspicion.
Cleopatra in Space
DreamWorks Animation’s Cleopatra in Space catapults the Egyptian queen into a futuristic world.
There, she trades sphinxes and sandals for a space academy known as P.Y.R.A.M.I.D. (Pharaoh Yasiro’s Research Academy And Military Initiative of Defense).
The Capture
A must-see Peacock original, the show starts with Shaun Emery (Callum Turner), a veteran of the war in Afghanistan as a lance corporal in the British armed forces, is acquitted of murdering a prisoner of war.
His getting off on a technicality — a flaw in the video evidence — comes to seem bitterly ironic as, at the end of a night celebrating the result, he is caught on closed-circuit security cameras assaulting his lawyer (Laura Haddock).
Briefly freed thanks to security footage, Emery is now bound up by tape once more, even as he insists that what our eyes show us is not reality.
Curious George
The live-action shorts made exclusively for children, illustrate and explain various concepts in math and science, and show schoolchildren engaging in experiments, that teach the concept featured in the previous story.
In Deep with Ryan Lochte
The documentary chronicles Lochte’s reinvention as a family man, now married with two children, after the post-Rio Olympic Games gas station debacle that made international headlines.
Intelligence
The U.K.’s Government Communications Headquarters, which handles both local and international cyber crimes, gets shaken up by the arrival of Jerry Bernstein (David Schwimmer), an NSA agent assigned to the department as an American liaison.
Lost Speedways
Created and hosted by Earnhardt, the show visits abandoned speedways and takes an exploratory look at great racing cathedrals of the past.
He and special guests will tell the stories of speedways that have been forgotten, abandoned and overtaken by nature.
Psych 2: Lassie Come Home
Picking up shortly after the events of 2017’s Psych: The Movie, 2017 sequel finds Lassiter recovering from a stroke, which he suffered during an emergency surgery after being shot six times.
But when Lassiter begins to suspect that something is amiss at his recovery facility — the “prestigious” Herschel House — he calls in Shawn and Gus to investigate.
Where’s Waldo?
The series follows young members of the WorldWide Wanderer Society, Waldo and Wenda, who are sent on travel missions by their mentor, Wizard Whitebeard.
Their rival, Odlulu, causes them trouble in their attempts to earn stripes and become wizard-level wanderers.
