Light Novels are amazing reads, especially when they are of the sci-fi genre. You know what is even better? Manga adaptations of light sci-fi novels. As most of us are used to the manga format, it makes us want to read the story even more.
The August issue of Monthly Comic Alive magazine by Kadokawa made an announcement on Wednesday, 27th May. It revealed that a manga spin-off of Asato Asato’s light novel series, 86, will be launched in the next issue of the magazine on 27th June. The name of the spin-off is Gakuen 86 (Academy 86).
The novel series was launched by Asato under the Dengeki Bunko imprint of ASCII Media Works in April 2017. The illustrations were done by Shirabi, and the mechanical design was done by I-IV. The English version was released by Yen Press.
The novel also has a manga adaptation illustrated by Motoki Yoshihara, published in the Young Gangan magazine by Square Enix in 2018. The manga has been collected into 2 tankobon volumes.
The series is also being adapted into a TV anime, which will be produced by A-1 Pictures. It will be directed by Toshimasa Ishii, with the script by Toshiya Ono and characters designed by Tetsuya Kawakami. The series is slated to release sometime this year.

It is a Japanese light novel science-fiction series, written by Asato Asato and illustrated by Shirabi with mechanical designs by I-IV.
The novel follows the story of a 16-year-old girl, Vladilena Milize, who is better known as Lena. She serves as a major in the republic of San Magnolia’s Army. She is a handler for the ‘Processors’ of the Republic’s ‘unmanned drones’ known as Juggernauts.
Their Goal is to use these drones to defend against Legion Drones developed by the Giadian Empire, which started a war with the Republic of San Magnolia a while back.
However, the Republic holds a dark secret, which is the Non-Existent 86th District.
