86 Eighty-Six part two episode six, titled “I Won’t Forget,” is the latest installment of the anime series.
Shin is silently suffering after killing Eugene as his guilt weighs him down. Nina, Eugene’s little sister, sends him a letter expressing her distaste for him due to her brother’s death to add to his sorrow.
Although Shin isn’t the type to share his grief, I hope Frederica helps him open up.
We also see that the old eighty-six and Lena are still buried deep inside Shin’s memories, and the memories still haunt him. General Richard assigns Shin and his squad to a suicide mission.
While they’re still given an option to opt-out of it, they decide to take on the task and head towards a place where death seems the only option.
How will the eight-six make it out alive? Will Shin meet Lena before heading out to war? We’ll find out in the next episode.
Episode 7 Speculation
In the last episode, we saw how Kiri’s attack has caused the Republic to become extremely unstable. We find out about a new weapon, Morpho, which can potentially destroy all the capitals of the Republic and its allies.
Eighty-six is assigned to a mission to launch a full assault as a decoy to lure the enemy. This attack will be followed by a special assault force making an aerial entry into the Legion-held territory to claim it back. They accept the assignment and head out with their heads held high.
In the next episode, we’ll see how the team prepares for the battle. They also might be able to meet Lena before finally going to war.
Episode 7 Release Date
Episode 7 of the 86 Eighty-Six anime has been released on Saturday, Nov 20, 2021. The episode title or preview has not been shown.
Since this anime runs on a weekly schedule, new episode releases are seven days apart.
1. Is 86 Eighty-Six on Break this Week?
86 Eighty-Six is on a break for a week and will continue as per schedule after the break. Instead of a regular episode, there will be a “Visual Commentary Special Program” on November 13, 2021. The cast members will talk about the best scenes from the anime so far.
Episode 6 Recap
The episode opens with the aftermath of Kiri’s attack. Frederica is visibly shaken, and Shin tries to shield her from the bloodbath outside the building. Her fear of Shin turning into another version of Kiri surfaces again, and Shin answers with a simple yes.
We then cut to a conference held by the Republic officials where they’re informed about all losses incurred. The first barrage hit the eighth Mechanized forward operating base FOB14, and almost an hour later, FOB13 was made a target.
The fifth infantry’s FOB 28 and FOB30 are also struck, fifteen hours after the initial attack. The artillery hit wiped out all the forward bases, and around 20,000 people were lost during the attacks.
A new type of Legion is believed to be behind these attacks, which is named Morpho. The crown prince of the Republic reports that the autonomous units infiltrated the invaded territories and managed to observe Morpho.
We find out that Morpho is most likely a train-based weapon that uses the old high-speed railway lines, and every one of the capitals can be within the firing range.
The eighty-six are sent out to the Federacy to battle the new weaponized enemy. They’re told that, unlike the Republic, no one there is replaceable, and hence, they should avoid being too reckless.
Shin is still a little on edge, and his teammates are worried about him. Frederica pitches to agree and tells Shin that he didn’t respond to her when she synchronized with him. Shin is so out of it that he didn’t even realize when they were synchronized. Perturbed, she asks him and the others to get some rest.
Later, Shin receives a letter, sent in a blue envelope similar to the one he received right before the last attack. The letter is by Nina, Eugene’s younger sister. In her previous letter, she enquires why Shin killed her brother.
Shin goes on a frenzy after reading it, which leads him to go on a killing streak. The letter seems to be the root of his mental disturbance.
Shin spirals downwards, thinking about all the times he was called a Reaper, the times where he had to kill his fellow soldiers, and the times when he was told that he had no reason to keep living.
Just as he begins to open the new letter, he gets called by General Richard, causing him to put it away. The general asks him whether it is true that he can hear the Legion and know where they are. Shin replies that it is true. He is then asked to mark all the regions where they are present.
The general believes in his ability and asks him to go on a critical mission where the three allied nations launch a full assault as a decoy to lure the enemy. This attack will be followed by a special assault force making an aerial entry into the Legion-held territory to claim it back.
Wenzel is reluctant to send him and the rest of the members since it is a suicide mission. Just as the general tells his reasoning behind the decision, Shin remembers the previous members of the eighty-six cheerfully explaining the same.
They can’t assign anybody with a family to an insane mission. Hence their squadron was ideal. Shin thinks about Lena, asking her never to forget him and bidding her goodbye.
Finally, we find the general explaining how they had experience in that territory, and no one else is skilled enough. Shin agrees to the task.
On their way back, Wenzel tells him that he and the rest of eighty-six should quit the army after this mission since they had already done more than enough for the homeland.
Shin asks her not to pity them and tells her they are capable of making their own decisions. The episode ends with the team heading out to the cafeteria after a briefing about the mission.

86 is a Japanese science fiction light novel series, written by Asato Asato and illustrated by Shirabi, with mechanical design by I-IV.
86 follows the story of a 16-year-old girl, Vladilena Milizé, better known as Lena. Lena serves as a major in the Republic of San Magnolia’s army and a handler for the ‘Processors’ of the Republic’s ‘unmanned drones’ known as Juggernauts.
Their goal is to use these drones to defend against Legion drones developed by the Giadian Empire, which started a war with them a while back. However, there is also a dark secret which the Republic holds.
