Crunchyroll Expo (CRX) is an annual convention held by Crunchyroll in San Jose, California, at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. It is a three-day event held during August – September. The expo hosts exhibits and guest appearances by renowned people from Japan and the USA. It is almost like a Comic-Con for the anime world.
Regardless of how anticipated this event is, the pandemic has managed to destroy the hopes of fans. The 4th Crunchyroll expo, scheduled to be held on September 4 – 6, 2020, has been cancelled due to COVID-19.
On the official website of Crunchyroll, it has been emphasized that the expo has been canceled, keeping in mind the safety concerns of the fans, attendees, guests, and staff.
The danger posed by the pandemic has not yet ceased, and neither is it possible to predict any future outcome.
Those who had secured tickets and hotels through the official Crunchyroll expo hotel link had been given a refund, and their booking has been canceled. Further information about the tickets and the refund will be available on the CRX website soon.
The Crunchyroll Expo 2021 has been announced and will take place at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center from 6th to 8th August 2021.
The first CRX was launched in 2017 after the streaming site giant surpassed a million paid subscribers. It was held at the Santa Clara Convention Center in California. The location of the event was changed to San Jose in 2018. The convention is a place to celebrate anime, manga, games, and cosplay.
Some of the well-known anime under the Crunchyroll Original Label are Tower of God, God of High School, In/Spectre and Noblesse.
