Sword Art Online -Progressive- Kuraki Yūyami no Scherzo (Scherzo of a Dark Dusk) movie’s limited pre-order tickets will go on sale at ANIPLEX+ in Anime Japan on March 26, 2022.
The tickets are completely made-to-order, with an acrylic charm featuring Kirito and Asuna’s miniature character illustrations as a bonus.
Funimation screened the first film in both standard and IMAX theaters in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
The film also opened in over 40 countries and territories around the world. The franchise will likely do the same for the upcoming second film as well.
The first film topped the box office on its first weekend last year and I’m confident that the second film will have a full house response this time as well.
I did enjoy the first movie even though some parts were a rehash, so if the second improves on what the first delivered I’ll be more than happy to wait for its release.
About Sword Art Online
Sword Art Online is a Japanese light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by Abec.
The series occurs in the near future and focuses on the protagonist “Kirito” Kirigaya Kazuto and Asuna Yuuki as they play through various virtual reality MMORPG worlds.
At the launch of the game, 10,000 people had connected themselves to the virtual reality of Sword Art Online. The plot takes a twist when people realize that they can’t quit the game.
Protagonist Kirito, a pro gamer and was present for the beta launch of SAO, starts planning to clear levels as soon as possible. Throughout his quest to finish the game, he meets many friends and also a love interest, Asuna.
The plot and the whole premise of the show are remarkably unique and quite believable in some futuristic sense.
