The Case Closed series has a plethora of interesting characters with mysterious and shady pasts, and Ai Haibara is in the top 5. We might know all about her, considering how long the story has been going on, but there are secrets we are still oblivious to.
It looks like the franchise knows we’ve caught onto this, and they’ve finally agreed to reveal everything. For that to happen, we’ll need some background info about the film, which is previewed in the new trailer.
The latest promo video for Detective Conan: Iron Submarine focuses on the film’s setting and the antagonist, Gin. It is scheduled to open in Japan on April 14, 2023.
It begins with introducing the high-tech Pacific Buoy facility that is getting ready to launch a new worldwide surveillance system. It is supposed to connect all law enforcement camera systems around the globe and do facial recognition, making it faster and easier to find people.
Knowing its potential, the technology will be targeted by dangerous criminals, including the Black Organization. The crime syndicate will try to get their hands on this surveillance system, and Conan will have to stop them at any cost.
Furthermore, the trailer also highlights the main antagonist of this film, an executive member of the Black Organization. He is chasing Ai Haibara, who is revealed as a former member of the criminal group and worked for them before she turned into a kid like Conan.
The franchise further confirms Ai’s past in a key visual featuring her, Conan, and Gin. It also has a tagline that says, ‘Are you Sherry?’ hinting at Ai’s codename, ‘Sherry,’ when she was in the Black Organization.

Detective Conan films always bring something new to the table, but this time it’s going to be something we’re familiar with.
Since Ai is one of the most beloved characters of the series, none of us are ready to see the pain she has been through. However, I can’t deny how excited we are to unravel the secrets.
