Sony Pictures Entertainment is bringing back Dracula to theaters with its upcoming gothic horror film, The Invitation. The vampire horror flick just got its first trailer and poster, released by the studio, and it sure promises a lot.
Starring Fast & Furious and Game of Thrones actress Nathalie Emmanuel, Thomas Doherty, Stephanie Corneliussen, and Hugh Skinner, the film is produced by Emile Gladstone of The Curse Of La Llorona fame.
The Light of the Moon director Jessica M. Thompson is donning the role of co-writer and director in this production. The film follows Evie’s (Nathalie Emmanuel) fall into a living nightmare where she must survive and escape a cult of vampires.
The trailer first shows how Evie (Nathalie Emmanuel) searches for more familial ties after her mother’s death and is contacted by her cousin. The said cousin, Oliver (Hugh Skinner), invites her to a wedding with family members dying to meet her, and she agrees to travel to England. Little does she know that her decision changes her life’s course permanently.
The seemingly odd practices, the unnerving stares of every guest, carefully worded questions—all this put Evie on guard, but she maintains her calm.
But all hell breaks loose when it’s revealed that Walter (Thomas Doherty), the charming family friend who had her swooning, was a vampire bent on her as his bride. Reeling from these shocking revelations, Evie can not even catch a breath as they toast her with blood from a fresh sacrifice.
Evie tries to escape, but Walter’s elaborate plan to bring her home could not fail, as he sabotages every means of her leaving. Evie realizes the only way to win the game and escape is to play the game, and she pretends that she is ready to join the family and be Walter’s bride.
The trailer ends with a shot of the brave Evie taking on the vampires, going through them as she tries to survive and make her exit. But will she escape unscathed? Has she wiped the line between herself and the monsters to trade her freedom? The answers to those questions will be answered at the film’s premiere on August 26, 2022.
