Earlier this month, over an hour of GTA 6 footage got leaked which gave us the first look at the protagonists of the game, the map, and much more. It was termed as one of the biggest leaks in video game history. Many developers came to show support to Rockstar Games, acknowledging the difficulty of having their work shown off before it’s complete.
The source of the leak was traced back to a 17-year-old teen, who was arrested in relation to the leak and charged with two counts of breach of bail conditions and two counts of computer misuse.
The 17-year-old appeared at Highbury Corner Youth Court on September 24 to address the GTA 6 leaks. He was found guilty of breaching his bail conditions but pleaded not guilty to computer misuse charges. He is now being held at a youth detention centre.
On September 19, Rockstar Games themselves addressed the leaks, stating that GTA 6 will not be delayed and updates would be provided related to the game when it’s ready.
The leaker is allegedly associated with the hacking group Lapsus$ and was arrested earlier this year for hacking companies like Microsoft and Uber. The case has now been transferred to a higher court where it will be heard at a later date.
With the development of GTA 6, Rockstar Games is set to deliver a creative benchmark for the series, and create one of the most ambitious games of all time.
