As avid anime fans, we’ve all seen our fair share of elemental powers, including fire.
You’ve got to admit, though, there’s never a dull moment with a fire user around. Pyromaniacs in anime are some of the most fun characters ever, and not to mention, they always kick ass in the most epic ways.
As a kid who suffered from middle schooler syndrome (yes, the infamous chuunibyo), I always wanted firepower.
This might’ve been a side effect of watching Fairy Tail and being entranced by Natsu Dragneel’s antics and flashy Fire Dragon Slayer Magic, but that’s a tale for another day.
Although I must admit, Natsu is far from the only badass fire user worth a mention.
So, here are 15 of the strongest fire users in anime:
15 Rin Okumura (Blue Exorcist)
Have you seen Satan’s kid? I give you Rin Okumura, the son of Satan. He inherited Blue flames from his father that can burn only what the user wishes. Blue Flames is a unique skill that can burn demons and objects, unlike other flames in Blue Exorcist.
Since his Demon Heart was sealed, it took Rin some time to manage his flames, but now he has gained access to wield his true power.
14 Hashira Rengoku (Kimetsu no Yaiba)
Kyojuro Rengoku was that senpai who you always looked up to. He was truly a very charismatic character, and I’m still not over his death. Kyojuro had a strong personality that made him a perfect Flame Hashira.
His Flame Breathing has nine different powerful styles to kill high-level demons and fight on par with one of the strongest demons, Akaza. Unfortunately, the audience could only see five of his styles before his death.
13 Muhammad Avdol JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
Avdol’s Stand is one of the Major Arcana cards, The Magician. His Stand Magician’s Red takes the appearance of a buffed-up man with a bird head (it’s JoJo the character has to be full of muscles) Avdol can willingly redirect, control the intensity, and shape Magician’s Red’s flames.
As the flames are only visible to other Stand users, Avdol has an advantage during battles. Magician’s Red can produce a heat radar that works like a lie detector and binds his opponents with his flames.
I think he should work for the police, considering the fact that he would make an excellent investigator.
12 Endeavor (MHA)
Currently, Endeavour is the Number 1 Hero in My Hero Academia. This is because Endeavor has a quirk called Hellflame that grants him the ability to produce and manipulate intense bursts of fire at will.
His destructive power works best when it comes to destroying Nomu—Homunculi creatures in MHA that cannot be defeated unless you’re one of the top players. Endeavor can even control the temperature and shape of his ridiculous flames.
11 Roy Mustang (FMT Brotherhood)
Roy is one of the main characters And the Flame Alchemist in FMT. My man is a walking talking lighter; he can burn anything with a snap of his fingers. Flame Alchemy is no easy task; it requires utmost precision and concentration.
Roy’s gloves are made up of ignition cloth that creates a spark when rubbed together. He has drawn a transmutation circle to maintain and manipulate the concentration of oxygen in the air.
Both his hands can create different flame effects, the right-hand glove uses explosion in a large scale setting, and the left glove is used to direct pinpoint flame attacks.
10 Escanor (Seven Deadly Sins)
Don’t believe his gentle appearance Escanor is considered to be the greatest sin; he is the Lion Sin of Pride and bearer of Sunshine.
Rhitta has to hold him back from burning everything in his way; we are literally talking about the sun here. Escanor’s powers keep rising with hours, and we haven’t even seen his prime.
You just know everything is over when he comes into the picture. He doesn’t even need to lift his finger; everything just automatically perishes away because of the intensity of his heat. At peak noon, he can defeat the strongest demons in one hit.
9 Natsu Dragneel (Fairy Tail)
The Fire Dragon King raised Natsu to be a dragon slayer. Aside from motion sickness, barely anything fazes Natsu; trust me, motion sickness is awful. He practically eats fire on a daily diet, so fire attacks don’t work on him.
The story’s ultimate villain himself revived Natsu and made him END to kill him. Since his whole magic revolves around the usage of fire, Natsu can attack with multiple varieties of techniques.
After Fairy Tail was disbanded, Natsu trained his Dragon Slayer Secret Art vigorously to the point that he even defeated a Zeref—He’s like the god of death!
8 Madara Uchiha (Naruto)
All of us can universally agree that Madara Uchiha is a monster, and he deserves to be on this list. He was not the antagonist of Naruto for nothing, and he is presumably the most powerful user of Fire Style Jutsu.
Madara’s Fire Style can incinerate a large group of people; it is so powerful that several Water Style users’ powers combined had a hard time dealing with him. No doubt Madara Uchiha is a legendary character.
7 Alibaba Saluja (Magi)
Despite the lack of badass moments, Alibaba is still a fan favorite. As the former 3rd Prince of Balbadd Kingdom, he’s an exceptional fighter and talented swordsman. Alibaba received the Fire Djinn, Amon in the 7th Dungeon.
His sword has immunity to any type of heat and fire and can absorb it as well. To equip his sword, Alibaba burns his arms with Amin’s flames. Alibaba has learned several techniques, out of which one creates a vortex of fire that incinerates anything that it touches.
6 Mereleona and Fuegoleon Vermillion (Black Clover)
Unlike other characters mentioned in the list, Mereleona talks with her fist. She doesn’t really care if the other person is the king or has any higher position; she’ll beat them up anyway. This lady is crazy enough to train in a volcano, so you can imagine fire doesn’t affect her.
Moreover, Mereleona is an expert in the Mana Zone that only a handful of wizards can pull off. Her younger brother Fuegoleon is equally talented and is the summoner of the Great Fire Spirit. He is the captain of Crimson Lion Squad and a candidate for Wizard King.
5 Shinra Kusakabe (Fire Force)
Shinra is one of those ‘Mistaken Protagonists’; it doesn’t matter how much he struggles or what he does to become the hero, he is always perceived to be a devil.
However, as a third-generation pyrokinetic, Shinra can control and utilize flames from his feet, granting him immense strength and speed.
Shinra is immune to powerful flames due to his Ignition ability. During near-death experiences, Shinra gains a skill called Hysterical Strength that amplifies his stats to max level.
Even if he’s using 30% of his Ignition ability, his output will be 100%. Moreover, Shinra is the male counterpart of Scarlett Johansson’s Lucy.
I’m not messing with you; he splits his body into atoms that can travel faster than the speed of light. With this ability, he can go back in time and re-materialize his broken body.
4 Sho Kusakabe (Fire Force)
With Sho’s lovely and innocent, childlike appearance, I refuse to believe that he can be disaster class, but he has proven otherwise; for real, though, Sho’s abilities are otherworldly.
He is a third-generation pyrokinetic with insane skill, and he can even use a fourth-generation ability called the severed universe, ever heard of time bending? This guy can do it; Sho can slow the flow of time. Even Shinra is slowed down due to this ability.
3 Portgas D. Ace and Sabo (One Piece)
Even if Ace died earlier in the series, he was extremely powerful. Ace had complete control over his devil fruit, Mera Mera no Mi that gave him the power to create and manipulate fire, and since it was a Logia type fruit, he could even transform himself into fire.
Furthermore, Ace was the commander of Whitebeard that itself signifies he was OP.
His burning fist held power to annihilate cities, but unfortunately, we won’t get a chance to see him at prime. On the other hand, Sabo was already overwhelming as it is; he could easily fight Luffy when they were kids.
Now he has changed his game. He ate Mera Mera no Mi only to become a complete beast. Sabo can also use Ace’s signature technique— Hiken.
2 Phoenix Ikki (Saint Seiya)
Ever since Ikki appeared as the antagonist in the initial episodes, he caught everyone’s attention.
Ikki is like an immortal if his Pheonix cloth is destroyed, it can revive him, so good luck defeating him.
You name any tough character; he can probably destroy them. This character is highly overpowered, Ikki overwhelmed Shaka and freaking Sea Dragon like it meant nothing, and that’s not even the biggest flex he can pull off.
1 Genryusai Yamamoto (Bleach)
Genryusai Yamamoto is the strongest anime fire user. Yamamoto’s Zanpakuto, Ryūjin Jakka, is the oldest, most powerful, and most destructive fire-type Zanpakutō in all of Soul Society which can easily reduce anything to ash.
His Bankai, Zanka no Tachi, can cut anything out of existence with heat hotter than the sun.
If you’ve seen Bleach, you cannot forget Yamamoto’s magnificent eyebrows. This guy’s abilities are god-tier; there is a reason why Yamamoto is the commander of Gotei 13. He is the strongest combatant in Soul Society.
He spent almost two millennia fighting and gaining experience; now, nearly a handful of people can survive after battling Yamamoto.
The flames from Yamamoto’s Bankai are so intense that they melt ice and deplete moisture in the entire area.
Please, he is the GOAT. I won’t believe otherwise.
