Arguably the most anticipated game of the year, Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 13 million copies on all platforms. However, from gameplay to visuals, everything was affected by glitches. Despite such nuisances, the RPG managed to do well commercially. Such sales speak volumes of the razzmatazz that the game was surrounded by.
The general public came to know of this insane figure when CD Projekt Red released the number of refund requests that they received. Around 13 million users demanded a refund from stores like Sony and Microsoft for Cyberpunk 2077.
In an announcement, Projekt CD said,
“Based on reports obtained from digital distribution platforms and data collected from physical distributors, it estimates that by 20 December inclusive gamers have purchased over 13 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077.”

“This figure represents the estimated volume of retail sales across all hardware platforms (factoring in returns submitted by retail clients in brick-and-mortar as well as digital storefronts),” added the Polish game makers.

Everything that Projekt Red did for Cyberpunk 2077’s pre-launch campaign screamed perfection. First of all, they got the internet’s sweetheart Keanu Reeves to star in it. Here, they instantly got everyone’s attention.
Then obviously, the legacy that Projekt Red carries, owing to the popularity heights that The Witcher 3 touched, enticed everyone to buy Cyberpunk 2077.
As a result, it was no surprise that over eight million people pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077. The biggest launch of a game ever!
On launch day alone, the makers recuperated what they spent on marketing and development of the RPG.
Now, unfortunately, the game was a letdown. Anything you’d do in it, the bugs would come running, spoiling your next-gen gaming experience. Despite such troubles, Cyberpunk 2077 was a commercial success, selling addition 5 million copies.
Given that CD Projekt shared no additional details on refund requests, many estimate that Cyberpunk sold much more than 13 million copies.
What remains to be seen is whether CD Projekt gets themselves out of the current wreckage. Teeming with errors, Cyberpunk 2077 is said to be revamped soon. A series of updates are expected to be rolled out in the coming weeks and months.

Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
