Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero has an enormous roster of nearly 200 characters. Making it one of the largest in any fighting game ever.
Unlike the Budokai Tenkaichi series, which has even the smallest and weakest characters shaping up to use their specials and combos to beat down even characters like Goku, Sparking Zero seems uninterested in balancing the characters anytime soon. That is why picking the strongest characters is important for Ranked.
10 Hit
Hit seems to be an unassuming and seemingly useless character. But he is one of those characters that Sparking might have buffed unintentionally.
Not only is Hit quick, but his supers are annoying to a fault and can reach opponents at any range for just 8 BP. Showcasing his control over time is canon.
9 Jiren
Jiren has a BP cost 9 and was Goku’s longstanding rival in the Super series. Being in the 9 BP tier, Jiren does justice to the cost and deals massive damage. With the combos, erasing opponents’ HP bars is not difficult.
Incredibly great damage isn’t the only skill he brings to the table. Jiren also has defense to match with his Super armor allowing him to be invincible for quite a while.
8 Broly (Super) Super Saiyan Full Power
Broly is one of the greatest characters in Dragon Ball series. In Sparking Zero, Broly becomes a complete beast and gains the power to match. He damages foes with incredible attacks and can turn the tables in a battle just by being on-field.
Broly costs 10BP and has a Legendary Super Saiyan form, which gives him Super Armor. There is a knockback effect when you use Broly, which means you can do twice the damage with half the effort.
7 Gogeta (GT) Super Saiyan 4
Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta from Dragon Ball GT has been a fan favorite even when canon. Gogeta has always been top-tier in the Budokai Tenkaichi games. He costs 10BP, which he deserves with his extreme speeds and the high numbers of damage he deals.
Gogeta has the Big Bang Kamehameha, enough to wreck the enemy characters unless they are tanky. A combo from Gogeta will end your game, so beware!
6 Beerus
Beerus, the strongest fighter in the entire 7th universe and an iconic character in the Dragon Ball series, is another strong pick. With a BP cost of 10, the God of Destruction is a solo player and the perfect mix of speed and power.
The spammable supers will annoy and damage enemies very quickly while being safe. It takes a bit of skill to see Beerus compared to most characters on this list, so practice well.
5 Omega Shenron
Omega Shenron has been with the Dragon Ball series as far as you can remember. He was a favorite pick in Budokai Tenkaichi and will continue to do so even in the new Sparking Zero.
Shenron’s cost is 10BP, and he deserves the cost with his survivability and ability to deal with high DPS attacks. Unlike other characters whose combos must be avoided, Shenron’s attacks even singular in number, need to be cautious of.
4 Yajirobe
Yajirobe is a complete coward and one of the weakest characters in the Dragon Ball universe. In the canon, he can be seen using Senzu beans to heal Goku, and many games have him use heals once a match, a reason why he is looked upon o much.
But it all changes in Sparking Zero as there is no limit to the heals in Ranked. With a mere 2BP cost, Yajirobe the coward has annoying levels of survivability to the next levels. If the enemy cant insta kill Yajirobe, well, he can be considered immortal.
3 Ultra Instinct Goku
The ultimate and newest form Goku has achieved is the Ultra Instinct. This form has a high cost of 9BP, which means there isn’t much you can get with the remaining BP. But the reason he ranks so high is that, well, you do not need any teams if you have Ultra Instinct Goku.
He is a breathing bulldozer and will wreck the enemy team with shocking speeds. Ranked matches will see Ultra Goku being used regularly as his attacks and evade are the best in-game.
2 Super Saiyan 2 Kefla
Power and speed are The main factors determining whether a character is top-tier. Fusion characters have often been put on higher pedestals and given ridiculous abilities in games.
Sparking Zero does the same with Kefla; she is given insane stats to match her high BP costs (9) and has one of the highest damage outputs in the game. Even annoyances like Yajirobe can only get insta-killed before they can say ‘Senzu.’ Not only is she fast, she is too fast to be hit.
1 Whis
Whis is the best character for Ranked matches in DRAGON BALL: Sparking Zero. He is also the strongest in the Dragon Ball universe. Whis is the mentor and assistant of the God of Destruction, Beerus. Sparking Zero preserves the cool and unearthly demeanor of Whis by giving him a unique ability- He can’t be hit.
As seen above, Ultra Instinct Goku has the best evade, but it comes at a cost: Ki. At the same time, the untouchable Whis can dodge even the fastest attacks for free. If you can’t be hit, opponents can only wait until they are, so he costs an enormous 11BP. Being broken comes with a heavy price tag.
