1. Who is Hikaru Kamiki in Oshi no Ko?
Hikaru Kamiki is the father of the Hoshino twins in Oshi no Ko. He was involved with the famous idol Ai Hoshino and got her pregnant when they were in school. He also has starry eyes and bears a striking resemblance to Aqua.
Hikaru Kamiki or ‘Miki-san’ as he referred to, is one of the main antagonists in the Oshi no Ko series. He is the one who got Ai pregnant when they were dating. And is suspected of almost definitely leaking the secret that she is pregnant.
This is what led to the attack on Ai and her eventual death. Aqua has scoured the country for many years to get a hold of him. But Hikaru seems to not be in his right mind; it could be pretense.
Hikaru appears to be a handsome and callous young man with long blonde hair arriving at his chin his eyes have the same six star-shaped pupils just like Ai. He looks like a more mature-looking version of Aqua Hoshino.
Hikaru is shown to be extremely polite and even a bit meek and submissive as a child. Due to the fact that Hikaru was raped by Airi Himekawa throughout his childhood, Hikaru seems to have extreme issues with attachment and trust.
He is shown to be a very reckless and emotional individual. He also is hinted to have a disdain towards his beautiful appearance because he thinks that they are the cause of him being preyed upon by several people.
Hikaru Kamiki’s has an eccentric personality, he can even be said to be bipolar. This is because, although he was mostly submissive during his appearances and flashbacks in the manga, he has sudden violent breakouts.
This is due to the underlying trauma that Hikaru Kamiki had to put up with as a kid. This led him to be completely lost in despair and hate himself for his helplessness and his appearance for brining him so much trouble.
2. What is the backstory of Hikaru Kamiki?
Hikaru Kamiki’s lineage is not known. We do not know of his family or anyone close to him as a child. The major discovery is that Hikaru was raped by Airi Himekawa when he was just a child, around ten years old.
Akane analyses in the anime that Airi repeatedly raped Hikaru when he was a child and for many years. Hikaru is also the father of Airi’s son, Taiki Himekawa.
This continuous assault turns out to be too much for Hikaru, and one day, he reaches his breaking point and confronts Airi’s husband with the truth. Airi’s husband goes livid with rage and wishes he commit a murder-suicide, first killing his wife and then himself.
Hikaru meets Ai Hoshino at Lalalie. They start dating and even sleep together, leading to Ai getting pregnant. Ai breaks up with him when she realizes this fact. Hikaru tells her about his childhood trauma, and she mocks it, calling him weak and a burden.
Ai eventually meets Dr Gorou and later gives birth to the twins, and one day, the news is out that she was pregnant and gave birth to kids, which led to her being stabbed.
12 years after Ai’s death, Hikaru visits her grave passes by Ruby, and admires her beauty, saying- that she is beautiful because she is their daughter.
3. About Oshi no Ko
Oshi no Ko is a supernatural crime-solving manga series written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump since April 2020 and received an anime adaptation in 2023.
The story follows a doctor, Goro, reincarnated as his favorite idol Ai’s kid. Ai names him Aquamarine and his twin sister, a reincarnation of a patient at the hospital, Ruby. Ai is later killed by a stalker who was also responsible for Goro’s death. As Aquamarine swears revenge on the stalker for his mother’s demise, Ruby follows the same path as her mother to become an idol.
