Quanxi’s decapitation really did leave the fans in a state of agony. She was a powerful and intriguing character. But with Tatsuki Fujimoto’s plot twists, we can never be sure of what comes next. He loves to leave behind cliffhangers every now and then.
So, Was Quanxi killed by Makima?
Did Makima Really Kill Quanxi?
If put in that way, Makima did indeed kill Quanxi in the International Assassins Arc. Quanxi had paired up with Denji to defeat Santa Claus. After the fight with Santa Claus, in manga chapter 70, Quanxi cuts off Denji’s head as to terminate the truce between them.
Yoshida and Kishibe arrive later, and Quanxi turns towards them to see them putting on their blindfold. Then, Makima appears with a sword from beside her group. Quanxi surrenders before Makima and asks her not to hurt her women- Cosmo and Tsugihagi. She tells Makima that she is ready to do anything if that means the lives of her women are spared. But Makima doesn’t heed her words and decapitates the three.
Who are Quanxi and Makima
We all know the enigmatic Makima from the anime. She is the Chief Cabinet Secretary’s Personal Devil Hunter. She took Denji in as her dog after finding him. She is the Control Devil, which is revealed in a latter part of the manga. She reincarnates as Nayuta after being consumed by Denji.
Quanxi is known as The First Devil Hunter, a Devil Hunter from China who merged with the Bow Devil. Like Denji, she is a hybrid too, which means that she can revive just like him. So, was she really killed by Makima?
So, Is Quanxi Really Dead?
Quanxi is a hybrid who merged with the Bow Devil. As we know, the hybrids can revive themself by drinking blood, which makes them practically immortal. Even though we see no similar scenes in the manga, Quanxi reappears in one of the following arcs- The Control Devil Arc. So, she is not dead.
We see Quanxi with Makima in chapter 86, acting all out of character as they get ready to fight Chainsaw Man. It is evident that Makima revived and brainwashed Quanxi to be on her Public Safety Devil Extermination Special Division 5, just like Katana Man and Reze. Quanxi seems so fond of Makima that she claims to protect her.
Quanxi in the Current Arc
After Makima was consumed by Denji, Quanxi regained her original personality. Quanxi appears in the current arc as an antagonist. In the new arc, we get to see Quanxi fighting Yoru, Katana Man, and Nail Fiend as they try to gather Denji’s pieces from the boxes.
They try to distract her by asking questions. Quanxi claims herself to be stronger than Chainsaw Man when questioned by Yoru. Yoru tries to strike her down…but the effect is not yet revealed.
