Tokyo Revengers Sequel Confirmed Alongside Mini Fairy Tale Anime

The incredibly popular sci-fi action thriller anime Tokyo Revengers is making a grand return with a much-anticipated sequel.  This exciting news was unveiled at a special event on June 16, 2024, marking the fourth anniversary of the anime adaptation. To further fuel the excitement, a promotional trailer recapping the thrilling events of the previous seasons was also unveiled on YouTube.

The confirmation of a sequel for Tokyo Revengers was officially announced via the anime’s verified Twitter account. While the format of this sequel, whether it will be a movie or a fourth TV season, is yet to be confirmed, the news was first revealed at the series’ Matsudo Touring event, a special celebration of the anime’s fourth anniversary, evoking a sense of nostalgia for long-time fans.

The sequel to Tokyo Revengers is a testament to the resounding success of the manga adaptation of the same name, which has seen the release of three seasons. The first season debuted in 2020, followed by new seasons in the subsequent years. The original manga, a creation of Ken Wakui, has been both written and illustrated by him.

‘Fairy Tale Revengers’ Anime Series Also Announced

As part of the special forth anniversary project in 2025, a unique and exclusive experience awaits the fans. The first project, ‘Dachi Live,’ will feature the cast of Tokyo Revengers, including Yuki Shin as Takemichi (Natsuo from My Hero Academia), Yu Hayashi as Mikey (Tanaka from Haikyu!!), Masaya Fukunishi as Draken (Ban from Seven Deadly Sins), Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Mitsuya (Inosuke from Demon Slayer), and more, performing a new, original song that encapsulates the essence of the Tokyo Revengers anime. Additionally, a new mini-anime series, Fairy Tale Revengers, was announced, which will combine Tokyo Revengers with beloved Japanese fairy tales. The first story will adapt the classic Momotaro, promising a unique and exciting twist.

About Tokyo Revengers

Tokyo Revengers is a manga written and illustrated by Ken Wakui. It began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine on March 1, 2017, and ended its run in November 2022. It is compiled into 31 tankobon volumes.

The story revolves around Takemichi Hanagaki, who learned that Tokyo Manji Gang had killed his only ex-girlfriend from back in middle school. After learning about the incident, Takemichi was pushed from the railway platform.

Landing on the tracks, he closed his eyes, accepting his death, but when he opened his eyes, he had time-leaped 12 years into the past.
