Ranma ½ Anime Remake– Updates, Potential Release Date, And More

Ranma ½ is a playful shonen series with a great sense of humor. Created by Rumiko Takahashi, the author of Urusei Yatsura, the series brings back memories from the 1990s. Fans are excited that a renowned studio might renew their old favorite anime, connecting old and newcomers alike.

Ranma ½ Anime Updates and Potential Release Date

Ranma ½ will get a remake, and MAPPA, known for Jujutsu Kaisen, will probably work on the series. The franchise or the studio has not officially confirmed this. However, there have been many leaks and rumors about the potential reboot. 

It is also rumored that Koya Okamura, known for Oblivion Battery, will be the producer. Given the fact that MAPPA might remake the series, we can expect better animation and VA compared to Urusei Yatsura. 

There is no exact release date yet, but we expect the series to be out in early 2025. If MAPPA is actually working on the series, it might also be delayed because their primary focus is Jujutsu Kaisen at the moment.

Plot  of The Remake

Ranma ½’s remake might follow the same plot as the series and the manga. We can also expect some minor changes. 

The story revolves around Ranma Saotome, a daring teenage martial artist plagued by a unique curse that turns him into a girl whenever he gets splashed with cold water.

While attempting to lead a normal life, Ranma seeks a way to cure his supernatural condition. In the meantime, he resides with the compassionate Tendo family and gradually develops feelings for Akane, along with a host of other quirky and amusing characters.

Problem With Previous Ranma ½ Anime Adaptation

Ranma ½ anime adaptation has seven seasons with 161 episodes, 12 movies, and 3 OVAs. However, nearly half of them were fillers.

The previous anime adaptation prioritized quantity over quality, which is why many fans believe it needs a remake. The focus was more on action, and a new adaptation could attract even more fans if done well by the studio
