With the galore of anime announcements from Anime Expo 2024, here comes the good news for the webtoon fanatics. The acclaimed webtoon ‘Omniscient Readers Viewpoint’ is finally announced to receive an anime adaptation. While the rumors about the anime have surfaced for a while now, an official announcement was made at Crunchyroll’s Industry Panel at the Anime Expo 2024 on July 6.
Based on the original South Korean web novel authored by Sing Shong, it was serialized from 6 January 2018 to 2 February 2020 on Munpia, the largest Korean web novel platform. It was later adapted into the webtoon by Naver Webtoon, illustrated by Sleepy-C (Redice Studio).
The anime titled ‘Zenchi-teki na Dokusha no Shiten Kara’ will be produced by Aniplex. Crunchyroll is set to stream the anime in the future. While the studio and release date are yet to be revealed, fans, in the meanwhile, can enjoy the visual and teaser.
First Look at the Visual
The key visual and the small teaser of the upcoming project were unveiled at the event, along with the official announcement. The stunning visual features two main characters from the series, Kim Dokja, and Yoo Joonghyuk, standing side by side. A look into it hints at their respective roles and how their lives will be intertwined later.
Trailer for the Anime
Both Crunchyroll and Aniplex released the short teaser of the ‘Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint’ anime on July 7, 2024, on their official YouTube channels. The 36-second feature teases the exciting storyline by dropping some important panels from the manhwa.
The released panels include Kim Dokja, who is reading the novel ‘Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse,’ a few jaw-dropping panels of the ‘ protagonist,’ Yoo Joonghyuk, and finally, the clash between them, ending with the back shot of all the crucial characters who will play an influential role in the course of the series. Fans can look forward to an amazing anime adaptation of their favorite webtoon.
Plot of the Anime
Life has been nothing but monotonous for Kim Dokja, an ordinary office employee whose hobby is reading the web novel ‘Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World.’ For the past ten years, he was the sole reader of this novel, which ends with chapter 3149.
After finally reading the last chapter, he receives a strange text from the author, who thanks him for bringing the story to life. Further, he emails Dokja a gift of gratitude and informs him of the monetization process. Immediately afterward, the web novel is deleted, and the novel’s story begins to unfold in reality with the appearance of a creature called ‘Dokkaebi.’
Now, Kim Dokja must use his knowledge from the novel to survive the various scenarios and strive to change the ending along with his trusted allies.
Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk, the protagonist of the original web novel, will also have to overcome their differences and work together to save the world.
About Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is a Korean metafictional apocalyptic fantasy webnovel penned by the author-duo Sing Shong. It was adapted into a webtoon by the same name in February 2020, one day after the end of the webnovel.
It follows the story of Kim Dokja, an ordinary salaried contractor, who one day, finds himself stuck in the world of his favorite fantasy novel. The webnovel is called Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World, written by an anonymous author who goes by the name of tls123. Dokja was the sole reader who finished this novel to the end.
When the novel suddenly becomes reality, Dokja is the only person who has unique knowledge of this apocalyptic new world. He knows how the plot of the story ends and therefore has the best chance of survival.
