Elden Ring is said to have some of the most challenging boss fights ever. Starscourge Radahn is one such endgame boss. Its latest expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, was launched on June 21st. Although Radahn is an optional boss, you must take him on to access the expansion. Check out this guide on how to defeat the almighty Starscourge Radahn.
Where is Radahn?
Starscourge Radahn can be found at the Castle Redmane in Caelid.
Firstly, visit the Site of Grace called Impassable Greatbridge in Caelid. There should be a portal nearby which will let you into Castle Redmane. Once inside, you can talk to Blaidd, he should be standing in the courtyard near a fire.
Look for a man standing at the top of a staircase affixed to a stone archway. After a short conversation, you will leave the castle and find a portal near a river.
It will take you to Radahn in Wailing Dunes.
What you need to know before the battle?
You should have reached at least level 65 for this boss fight. The reason Radahn is such a terrifying opponent is because he excels in every skill. He can easily take you out within moments. Keep in mind, Radahn is a demi-god and a Shardbearer.
How to beat Radahn?
Radahn is a spectacular fighter. He has large arrows which can deliver fatal blows from a distance. In close range, Radahn swings two giant swords, dodging which is a challenge in itself. Radahn is always moving, thanks to Leonard, his fearsome steed. In the final moments of the fight, he will even deploy a few deadly spells. All in all, you should be fearing General Radahn.
In theory, it might seem nearly impossible to defeat such a formidable enemy. However taxing it might be, there is a way to do so.
While you can summon other characters, they will merely serve as a distraction and do minor damage to Radahn. This will buy you an extra few seconds. So, use them wisely when you need a hand. When there are no other players present, summon your horse Torrent since you will need to move very quickly. Lastly, always keep your eyes on Radahn.
First Phase
When the battle begins, Radahn will begin by firing off 3-4 magic-infused arrows. One hit from the arrows will end you. So, dodge roll through them or use any of the scattered weapons as cover. While doing so, summon your allies.
Radahn will then fire a rain of arrows. So make sure you are on top of Torrent to quickly move away and evade the arrows.
Your summoned allies will now engage with Radahn and force him into close combat. You need to strike when he is busy with another fighter. Do not let him linger on you. Move away when you feel him charging towards you. Eventually, Radahn will begin the second phase.
Second Phase
After fifty percent of his health is depleted, Radahn will leap into the air. Look up at the sky and you will soon see Radahn come down like a blazing comet. Keep a safe distance or you will be wiped out.
Radahn is now even more powerful, thanks to gravity magic.
He will send out energy waves by swinging his sword from side to side. Jump over to avoid them. Radahn will then summon huge rocks. They will hover by his shoulder for a while before a bright light covers them. That’s when you should run for your life. There are several mounds around you so make sure to stay around them for easy cover.
As you did in the first phase, keep hitting Radahn along with your allies. Consistently deliver heavy blows and Radahn will soon fall down to his demise. Remember, patience is the key here. After all, Starscourge Radahn is just another boss.
