How to defeat a Furnace Golem in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC?

You will encounter Furnace Golem pretty early on in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. But you would be a fool to assume that it is going to be an easy win. After all, Elden Ring is anything but “easy”. Don’t be intimidated though. Furnace Golem is a boss and there’s always a way to beat one!

What you need to know before facing Furnace Golem?

To take down Furnace Golem, you need Hefty Fire Pots or Hefty Furnace Pots. However, here’s the catch– you need to have defeated a Furnace Golem to get the crafting materials for a Hefty Furnace Pot i.e. Furnace Visage.

So, if it is your first time fighting a Furnace Golem, try to use Hefty Fire Pots and then obtain a Hefty Furnace Pot. For every Hefty Fire Pot, the Furnace Golem will lose one-fifth of its health.

Once equipped with a Hefty Furnace Pot, throw it on to the main body of the Furnace Golem to inflict serious damage.

How to beat Furnace Golem?

The way to beat Furnace Golem is to stay behind it and summon any Spirit Ash. If you have a Hefty Furnace Pot, throw it into its basket from an elevated position to deal near-fatal damage.

If you are positioned in front of the Furnace Golem, it will pick you up and throw you into its basket, resulting in instant death. So, stay behind, in the Golem’s blindspot as much as you can.

A Spirit Ash will do the most important part in a battle– buy some time by distracting the Golem. It is best done during the early phase of a fight to give you an advantage.

The Furnace Golem only has a few attacks you need to watch out for. When at a distance, it will shoot fireballs and flaming jets directed at you. Once closer, it will launch into the air and come down, sending a train of explosions.

You can easily dodge it by understanding the timing of its movements. When the Golem stomps his feet on the floor, you must jump to avoid the shockwave.

A Furnace Golem might have leg armor. So, try to get on raised ground and attack the Golem from that point. In case the Golem does not have leg armor, attack it from the ground to break their stance. Keep in mind, you need to hit both legs.
